Captain Dimitri Chandler, commander of the Goliath, appears in Arthur C. Clarke’s 3001: The Final Odyssey.

As the Goliath mines the outer solar system for ice materials, beyond the orbit of Neptune, Chandler finds Frank Poole's body.[1] Poole is later recovered back to life, through advanced fourth millenium technology. Later, Chandler ferries Poole to the Lucifer system (formerly Jupiter), to view what intervening developments had taken place in the solar system since Poole had last been there.
